Facilities Department Maintenance Shop

The Facilities Department is responsible for all maintenance, custodial services, energy management, regulatory compliance, coordinating and managing construction projects and security systems for the School Corporation.  The School Corporation covers all of Floyd County, Indiana, with the farthest buildings approximately 25 miles from the Facilities Office.

The Facilities Department provides technical and administrative support for 118 Custodial Staff in all the Buildings. This group is classified into Wage Grades from cleaning personnel to in-building Maintenance Workers and Plant Operators, to Wage Grade Supervisors.

We operate a centrally managed and monitored energy management system that covers a total of 22 buildings at present.  The system includes hundreds of controllers, and thousands of individual control points to operate the HVAC systems and maintain comfort conditions; it is also used for scheduling off-hours events and for emergency shutdowns.

We manage the corporation's energy conservation program now in its 5th year with over $2,000,000 in cost avoidance. We are the leader in Energy Star schools in the State of Indiana, having the State's first Energy Star school and the most Energy Star schools. Currently all our schools and administration buildings are Energy Star labeled.
